Play online poker tournaments, sensibly
This article is meant to help you plan your online poker games, because as a beginner it can be quite difficult to multitask and get a hold on the game.
- Always maintain a schedule of the tournaments in the month and use the net to locate tournaments which are in your country.
- Don’t join tournaments at random, pick those that are motivated/inspired to play in.
- Keep a tab of the registration fees you have to pay and details of all the tournaments you have put your name in.
- Book early for tournaments that have limited seats.
- Most tournaments don’t offer choice of table, or position of play, so be prepared to play wherever they assign you to.
- Decide in advance how many chips to buy, as most tourneys do not allow re-buys. Making the chips you purchased last and increasing them by winning is all in your hands.
- The winnings on different tournaments and sites vary vastly so be aware of what the first prize and subsequent wins actually translate to. Some will publish your name as a winner, while some sites will give you direct entry into another tournament, so read the fine print thoroughly first.
- Not always the winning are for cash so before you begin to see million-dollars sign flashing find out what you are actually playing for.
- Last but not the least, when you are on a losing streak, bow out gracefully, do not abuse fellow players or anyone else as you may be debarred from that tournament in future as well.
